“We see this as a growth opportunity. We tend and want to make an investment in this business and community, so that might mean some additional employees. We just want to make a good product better. Across the range, new generation ‘Blues’ and ‘Swing’ radio packages offer more connectivity options ranging from an aux in socket to an SD card slot and a USB socket. A colour display, six speakers and a Bluetooth connection are added to the ‘Swing’ set up. Using this, the system can be connected to the driver’s smartphone, which is stored in a special smartphone holder on the dashboard.
My favorite business development example, of course (truth be told, I live close to it which is why I’m so annoyed by it) is the old gas station on 238th that now sports a nighttime, back lit 20′ foot long “Liquor Wine” awning sign and two posts that used to house the old “Gas Mart” pylon sign. That’s a code compliance thing take the sign down and retain the awning signage. Overall, it not an attractive, well thought out business design and is now the entrance beacon to our neighborhood.
“The exercise was designed to practice the City’s Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Plan, it was a great success,” said Todd Flynn, Director of Protective Services. “Our key objectives for this exercise were to practice emergency response functions such as establishing communications, establishing a command post, integrating the multiple functions of the HAZMAT response team, including rescue and personal decontamination. I am confident that we are well prepared to deal with such an emergency.
This is an extremely competitive merit based program which includes an intensive week long study of the federal government and the people who lead it. The overall mission of the program is to help instill within each class of USSYP student delegates more profound knowledge of the American political process and a lifelong commitment to public service. In addition to the program week, The Hearst Foundations, which fully funds the USSYP, provide each student with a $5,000 undergraduate college scholarship with encouragement to continue coursework in government, history and public affairs.
“I don’t ever see that as meeting the needs of this community,” said Valley. “I see that as just a stopgap measure because we’re in a tight spot right now, we’re carrying huge debt payments. So my point to council would be that we have capital of 1.6 something whatever the capital item is, we’re doing that because that’s what is left over after all the other bills are paid and we put the reserve the way we have to.
